At the initiative of Kari Heinilä, Albero
started playing its unique mix of contemporary classical and improvised
music. Inspiration for the music may come from diverse sources like
Spanish renaissance, Charles Mingus or Claude Debussy, but a four-part
polyphony full of colours and articulated details from which solos
and duos emerge, remains. Members of the group are some of the most
versatile musicians in Finland, with ambitious projects ranging
from solo Bach recitals to playing with John Zorn, with and without
electronics.
During its history of two years Albero has given
concerts in Helsinki , Porvoo and Lapua and has made a recording
for Finnish Broadcasting Company. During the season 2006-7 Albero
produced a series of four concerts at Balder Hall in Helsinki as
well as played at festivals out of town. One of the concerts was
dedicated to new exciting arrangements of works by Charles Mingus,
in another the group traveled to Paris 100 years ago with the theme
"World Exhibition".
At the moment the group is preparing for its first cd release and
getting ready for concerts in 2008.
